Tell us a bit about Ayarah. What is it, why did you start it?
We are a plant based cooking retreat company, that also runs cooking classes, catering and workshops around Australia and the globe.
What made you become vegan?
I spent 3 days with Sean one of the owners of PranaOn and it was when he mentioned how can I say I love animals and eat them. This hit home for me and I was sold!
You’re a whizz in the kitchen – where did you learn to cook and what is your favourite style of cooking and/or ingredients to cook with?
I learnt from my mum I guess, throwing everything in a pot and hoping for the best. As an adult, I went on to train at Matthew Kenney’s Plantlab in LA and have my diplomas in raw food and plant based food through them. My favourite meal is jackfruit pizza or Bao buns.
What would be your ultimate “cheat meal”?
I don’t believe in cheat meals; you shouldn’t feel guilty for eating food. This is why so many people end up with eating disorders.
What is your favourite way to relax?
When preparing for competition, what does an average week of training look like for you?
Training weights 5 days a week and cardio 4 days.
What are you currently working on fitness and health-wise?
I’m not training for anything, just focusing on getting my business off the ground.
Who is one of your heroes (vegan or otherwise)?
I love The Rock. I think he is a great example of a hard-working person.
For people wanting to become vegan, what tip can you give them?
Start small and go slowly into the transition; you don’t have to do it overnight.
