79 Tu is the creation of Jaspreet Manku, who grew up in an Indian family where ‘haldi doodh’ or ‘turmeric milk’ was the infamous traditional home remedy.
Jaspreet’s father would make haldi doodh for all family members when any one of them became unwell and he would preach the benefits of turmeric to all. The aromas of turmeric and other spices were very tempting, and by adding just a touch of milk, oil and sweetness made for a warming and healing drink.
Jaspreet created 79 Tu to bring the benefits of turmeric that his dad taught him to the world. He has crafted his product so as to ensure maximum absorption of curcumin (the active ingredient of turmeric), great taste and minimal environmental impact.
Turmeric is high in magnesium, iron, potassium, calcium, zinc and copper. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which may even protect against some forms of cancer progression. It is also being studied in relation to reducing cognitive decline in aging, lowering the risk of and treating side effects of diabetes, and supporting heart health.
79 Tu also contains cinnamon (which can help reduce blood glucose levels and improve insulin sensitivity), black pepper (which aids the absorption of curcumin), ginger (which can be used to treat nausea, aid digestion, reduce inflammation and boost testosterone) and coconut oil (which can assist fat loss when daily caloric requirements are not exceeded, particular in overweight individuals).
I had the gold and copper packs – 79 Tu Superspice Blend with Coconut Oil and 79 Tu Superspice Blend with Organic Cacao. To be frank, they are an acquired taste and not for everyone. But with a touch of sweetness and some gently heated soy or even coconut milk, they are hard to resist.
The rich aromats and spices fill your nose. The haldi doodh or turmeric milk is so warming and healing, that I almost instantly feel like I’m carefree and snug, sitting by a fireplace wearing some embarrassingly fuzzy slippers with the rain pouring down outside.
I made 79 Tu Superspice Blend with Coconut Oil with hot water and a dash of soy milk. For extra deliciousness, I sweetened it with Myprotein Vanilla Flavdrops. Oh boy, it was heavenly. The texture was also smooth, apart from the very end where some sediment had formed.
79 Tu is also available in the Superspice Blend with Organic Green Tea, Instant Coconut Turmeric Latte sachets and Artisan Stone-Ground Turmeric Chocolate. Mmm healing chocolate… This was next on my list to try!
79 Tu is made and hand packed in Melbourne from imported ingredients. It contains no sugar, caffeine, gluten, dairy, GMOs, added preservatives or added colours.
